Applying for AIR Program

The Works Artist In Residency Program is a great opportunity for professional glass artists to gain exposure, experience and build an impressive resume and portfolio. The purpose of the program is to bring glass artists with various backgrounds and specialties in the glass genre into our community to share their craft through classes, programs, lectures and demonstrations. Artist In Residency Programs occur two times per year for a duration of 4-months each. Residency periods are February 1 through May 31 and September 1 through December 31.

Glass Artists interested in applying for The Works Artist In Residency Program must complete the following application process:

Interested applicants must submit a resume and references along with three glass portfolio samples (photographs accepted) within the specified time frames listed below to be considered for the Artist In Residency Program. Resume information must be submitted via mail to The Works, Attention: Lawrence Tuber, 55 S. 1st Street, P.O. Box 721, Newark, Ohio 43058-0721 or via e-mail at LawrenceTuber@attheworks.org. Applicants must meet criteria outlined in the Artist In Residency Requirement & Application Process and be willing to relocate during the residency time period.

Resumes for the AIR Program will be accepted as follows. Please note the deadline for resume submission:


  • February 1 through May 31 Residency Period: Application accepted June 1 through September 1
  • September 1 through December 31 Residency Period: Application accepted January 1 through April 1


After reviewing resume and portfolio submissions, The Works will contact selected applicants to proceed with a rigorous interview process. The selected AIR Program candidate will receive compensation throughout the residency period based upon his/her expertise, housing accommodations and additional benefits including a featured exhibit in The Works Main Art Gallery.
