However, the shops are open for most events held at The Works such as Harvest Festival and Holiday Traditions. Also, if groups call in advance to request the shops be open on a specific date and time, arrangements will be made.
Remember to visit the The Works Wood Shop and Print Shop during your visit! Wib Mock, who oversees the Wood Shop, has worked with wood for several years and has become a phenomenal wood turner. As you visit the shop, you can watch Wib and his apprentice work on beautiful turnings taking each piece from a block of simple wood to an intricately crafted piece of art. Several of Wib's handmade wood turning are available for purchase in the Gift Shop.
The Works Print Shop is home to several print presses, tons of individual old fashion press letters and Bob Coyne; a lifelong pressman. Visitors to the Print Shop will learn how the printing process has developed through the years, see examples of different printing presses learn how to set type and print their own "money". Bob is well versed in the history of printing and always willing to share his knowledge with children and adults alike.
