Glass Studio

The Works is home to one of the few operational "hot shops" in Central Ohio open to the public offering demonstrations, workshops, and private instruction.

Visitors as young as 9 years of age can try their hand at hot glass blowing. Of course, one of The Works' professional glass artists will be there to help!

Experience the art of glass blowing during a visit to The Works Glass Studio. Talented glass artists transform white-hot blobs of molten glass into colorful vases, bowls and other beautiful works of art right before your eyes during daily demonstrations. Some of these beautiful works of art are displayed in The Works gift shop and are for sale to the public. View Gift Shop merchandise.

Hot Shop Scholar: This scholarship program recognizes a student with an interest in the art of glass blowing. During a four-day period, the student receives one-on-one training and mentoring from a professional glass artist. The scholarship recipient creates her/his own pieces of glass art while refining glass skills and gaining a deeper understanding of techniques of the trade. Individuals interested in this scholarship must complete an application and submit it to The Works Glass Studio Manager. Applications are accepted beginning in May. This scholarship was established by the Winegardner family in memory of their son Nicholas. His passion for glassblowing encouraged his family to make this opportunity available for one high school or college student each June.
